So - this happened: Broad Way Sleep's "Shy and Out of Season" won 1st place in the R&B/Hip-Hop category in the 2010 International Songwriting Competition. Thank you to everyone who supported this record. Coolest thing about this? The list of judges, which includes: Rihanna, Adele, Regina Spektor, Tom Waits, Peter Gabriel, Timabaland, K'Naan. Judging panel for this international awards program includes Seal, Suzanne Vega, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Jeremy Taggart (Our Lady Peace), Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), Ozzy Osbourne and more. Fans can vote too, so please do!

To kick off the new year, Broad Way Sleep is offering its listeners another single from its debut album. "Sound the Alarm" features the delicious vocals of Sarah Shafey traversing up and down the sonic scale. The sold out event was held in Toronto for 300 attendees and viewed online by thousands all over the globe. The conference brought together the city's foremost thought leaders, change makers and everyday people from various disciplines. You can watch the performance below. The full cast of Broad Way Sleep takes the stage to perform its debut concert on Thursday August 12 at the Lula Lounge in Toronto.

Broad Way Sleep will be performing its entire album live, as well as new unreleased material. In addition to the core members of the group (Ralph Joseph, Sarah Shafey, Alexander The and Robert Bolton), there will be an amazing line-up of musicians and special guests, including Mz. Chawls, Rique Franks, Devrim Eldelkli (of blueVenus), Peter Murray and Giampaolo Scatozza (of Groove Armada).

Fueled by critical acclaim from music press and blogs across North America, anticipation has been building for this live performance since the release of the group's debut album earlier this year.
